Meet Our Team
Jiné is a self-described Chingachgook kid, whose love of the outdoors all started with her experience as a camper in the Adventure Camp program here at Chingachgook. From that trip on, Jiné spent every summer on the lake. Jiné loves working with staff and campers to carry on the traditions that make Chingachgook the best place to spend a summer! She has worked in the camp and outdoor recreation industry seasonally and full-time for more than 15 years and is passionate about the Capital District YMCA’s mission, especially its commitment to equity.
Jiné is originally from Albany, NY, a graduate of Ithaca College and previously worked for the American Camp Association, New England. Jiné enjoys sailing, hiking, photographing the beautiful Adirondacks, jumping off the rope swing, and watching the perfect #skybluepink sunsets over Lake George.
Summer Program Director
Mike started coming to Camp as a Junior Boy camper in 2004 and immediately fell in love with the Adirondacks and Camp Chingachgook. He has grown up as a part of the Chingachgook family, spending many summers as a camper and staff member, always striving to make each summer better than the last! He is proud to be a part of a welcoming community that provides so many character-building opportunities for our campers through our traditions and innovative programs.
Mike is originally from Ballston Spa, NY. While studying at the University of Vermont, and the National Outdoor Leadership School, he served the Y movement as an assistant site director with the Greater Burlington YMCA and has served various roles with BBL Hospitality throughout the Capital District. After traveling the country backpacking, sailing, rock climbing, kayaking, and taking plenty of Instagram photos, Mike decided that Lake George was the most beautiful place out there!
Carol began working at Camp Chingachgook in 2004 and has been the heartbeat of our office ever since. Almost every family that attends Chingachgook has spoken to Carol prior to their arrival or on the opening day of summer camp.
Carol loves to hike, kayak and boat on Lake George during the summer months, and ski and snowshoe in the winter. When you give Chingachgook a call, be sure to say ‘hi’ to Carol!
Luke Mance joined our year-round team at Chingachgook in July of 2019 and hit the ground running! Luke has abundant experience in property management. For the past 14 years, he has served as the Mountain Manager and as a heavily relied upon member of the facilities team at Double H Ranch. Additionally, Luke is a custom dock and boathouse builder and skilled carpenter. He possesses both the hard and soft skills needed to responsibly care for Chingachgook’s physical assets and to lead our excellent team of maintenance technicians.
Luke enjoys spending time in the Adirondacks with his wife and two sons, who are all excited to now be part of the Chingachgook family!
Community Programs Coordinator
Neil began his camping journey at Chingachgook in 1999 as a camper in the JBU. He immediately fell in love with the Adirondacks and with the camp atmosphere. Neil has spent more than 15 years as a camp staff, working as a counselor, photo specialist, and outdoor educator at Chingachgook and went on to serve as an Associate and Interim Camp Director of JCC Camp Seneca Lake in Rochester, NY. Neil took his camp experience abroad as a Youth in Development Volunteer with Peace Corps Thailand and was elated with the opportunity to bring the magic of camping to the rural communities of Thailand.
Neil is originally from Saratoga Springs, NY and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from SUNY New Paltz. He is excited to return to the Adirondacks to take full advantage of hiking, canoeing, biking, and spending time in the fresh mountain air.
