Conferences & Certifications

ATI supports outdoor leaders and camp professionals through a series of conference and certification opportunities. Instructors & presenters come from national associations and are recognized experts in their fields.

Camp Food Service & Maintenance Conference

DATES JUST ANNOUNCED! March 17-19, 2027

The Food Service & Maintenance Conferences have long been staples of the Adirondack Training Institute’s offerings. This one-of-a-kind program is specifically for staff and directors involved with food service delivery and property maintenance at camps and outdoor recreation centers.

 

We will continue to focus on providing industry-specific and hands-on sessions as well as opportunities to collaborate and network with your colleagues. Become current with industry trends, learn new approaches to dealing with old problems, and find out about the latest health and safety standards.

 

Pre-conference offerings such as ServSafe certification or ACA Standards workshops may be available.

ATI Professional Certifications

Wilderness First Responder (WFR)

Course led by a SOLO instructor. The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers. The study includes response and assessment, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental emergencies, and survival skills, soft tissue injuries, and medical emergencies.  For those looking for more advanced training than Wilderness First Aid. Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

Course led by a SOLO instructor.  Learn basic first aid assessment and care protocols. Two-year certification satisfies American Camp Association requirements for leaders of overnight camping trips. Useful to guides, scout leaders, and anyone who enjoys outdoor recreation. For more information, visit www.soloschools.com. No upcoming public courses at this time.

Lifeguarding with Waterfront Module

Course led by American Red Cross Instructor.  Learn preventative and emergency response skills for the pool and waterfront.  Strong swimming skills required.  Earn a two-year certification in lifeguarding and first aid, and a one-year certification in CPR for the professional rescuer with AED. No upcoming public courses at this time.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Course led by American Red Cross instructor.  WSI certifies you as a Red Cross instructor to teach children and adults to swim, including the fundamentals of instructor training.

U.S. Safe Powerboat Handling Certification + NYS Boating License

This classroom and on-the-water course teaches safe powerboat operation and improved boat handling skills. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, which represents the boating authorities of all 50 states, has approved this course. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, a US Powerboating and NYS certificate will be granted. For more information, visit uspowerboating.com.

USA Level 1 Archery Instructor Training

The USA Archery Level 1 Instructor certification course provides graduates with the necessary tools to maintain a high level of safety both on and off the archery range for camps and beginner archery programs. To successfully complete the requirements for this certification, students must successfully pass the USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification online course, including the online exam, and complete this one-day in-person practical course to officially receive a USA Archery Level 1 Instructor certificate of completion. The USA Archery Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety and setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs and lesson plans, and is well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of disciplines.
