We are a community of dynamic leaders who foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

YMCA Camp Chingachgook is part of the Capital District YMCA and offers a variety of seasonal and full-time positions. Camp & the CDYMCA want all interested applicants to know we are seeking a diverse workforce and are actively recruiting candidates in accordance with diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity policies.

At Chingachgook, we believe in the magic of camp. We believe in creating a welcoming community for all, where we are constantly striving to improve ourselves and others. We do not shy away from hard work, long days, or tough conversations. We encourage all of our staff to take pride in their surroundings and commit ourselves to keeping camp clean, safe and leaving it better than we found it. We focus on building a deep connection with the natural world and those around us. We believe in instilling confidence and independence in everyone who steps foot on camp. We are passionate about providing programs that promote a healthy mind, body, and spirit for all.

We are in the business of changing lives. If you would like to help us leave this impact on the world, we invite you to read below for more information regarding open positions and how to apply.

Summer staff are the heart and soul of camp! Entry-level and leadership positions are available. We begin hiring in Early October for the upcoming summer and accept applications until we are fully staffed (usually by May).

“It’s often multiple times a day that I’m thankful for my time working at camp Chingachgook. The lessons, big and small, I learned on staff are invaluable. Even more irreplaceable are the leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills I gained in every position, from counselor to director.

I find myself braver and more confident in my career and daily life because of my experiences at camp. And perhaps best of all are the lasting friendships I made and have kept throughout the years. If I could, I would go back and do it all again, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

-Mary McAfee, Camp Alumni & Former Summer Staff
